Our Mission Statement: BANA is committed to the provision of specialized treatment education support services for individuals affected directly and indirectly by eating disorders.
Our Vision: To be recognized in the community as the primary source for the prevention and treatment of eating disorders. To be the leader in promoting the acceptance of diverse body shapes and through the adoption of a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
BANA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the treatment and prevention of eating disorders and related issues. Examples include negative body image and low self-esteem. BANA was established in 1982, by a group of concerned parents. As a result of their vision, BANA is now funded by the Ministry of Health and through private donations. Programs include: The Next Door Neighbours (Body Based Harassment Puppet Show), Self-Esteem & Body (Workshops for grades 5 to 8), Sizing Up The Media (Grade 9 and up), Adolescent Programs (Assessments, Group Therapy, Art Therapy), Adult Programs (Assessments, Group Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Body Image, Relapse Prevention, After Care), Family Programs (Individual & Family Therapy, Family & Friends Support Groups), Research Articles, Resource Library
