College of Midwives of Ontario

Midwifery care in Ontario is defined and guided by a history of and ongoing support for community-based midwives working in partnership with childbearing woman. The College of Midwifes of Ontario envisions a time when every community and every woman in the province has midwifery care as an accessible and viable option for childbearing. The practice of midwifery is the assessment and monitoring of women during pregnancy, labour, and post-partum period, and the conducting of spontaneous normal vaginal deliveries.
